WHAT
IS MIDI?
|
MIDI stands for "Musical Instrument Digital Interface". It was introduced in the late 1980s as a method for digital instruments (keyboards, drum machines, etc.), to communicate with each other. A large portion of today's recorded music, and even film scoring, is created with MIDI programming, as well as being used frequently in live performance. Joe Escobar has extensive experience in MIDI music programming which he used for over 10 years while performing in Nevada casinos with his original "Rhythm & Motion" duo.
MIDI performances are NOT the same as Karaoke. Karaoke is comprised
of audio/video tracks. MIDI files are played with a "MIDI
sequencer", which can be a stand-alone unit or software in
a computer or tablet. When one is using a MIDI system for live
performance, the listener is actually hearing the music being
played in real time by the sequencer, as if being performed by
a live player. Joe Escobar is able to create the "live"
feel of a full band with his programming, so much so that if you
were to close your eyes during a performance, you would think
that there was a live drummer or bass player. wing
